Disclaimer:
Flashing this custom ROM is a risky process and might completely damage your Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 if done in a wrong way. If by any mistake your device gets bricked or damaged by following this article then neither I nor the developers of this ROM will be held liable for that. If you have no idea of what you are doing then stop right here. Although the chances that your phone will get damaged are least still I strongly recommend to follow all the instructions properly as they are mentioned and without a single mistake.
Compatibility:
This custom ROM must be installed only and only onSamsung Galaxy Mini having model number GT-S5570. Do not flash this on any other device except the one mentioned as it may damage your phone permanently. Better check your device’s model number from Menu->Settings->About Phone.
Pre-Requisites:
- Charge your Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 at least up to 60%. This is essential so as to decrease the risk of interruption during the flashing process.
- Backup all your phones data and settings including contacts, messages, call logs, memos etc. to your phones SD card or on your PC for more safety. Do not skip this step as everything gets wiped in the last step of this procedure.
- You need to backup EFS folder present in your phones system directory. This folder contains all your phones specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code, and much more. So a backup of this folder is essential. There is always a risk that this EFS folder might get corrupted. If so happened, your device will be completely useless & will no longer be recognized by your carrier.
- Make sure you have installed mobile specific drivers on your PC. This is recommended so as to recognize your Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 when connected via USB cable. You can install them by installing Samsung Kies or manually install them from the link given below:
- Make sure your Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 must be rooted. Also a custom recovery like Clockworkmod (CWM) or TWRP must be installed before proceeding further. You can follow our guide:
Let’s move to the actual Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM flashing process.
Procedure to install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Galaxy Mini GT-S5570:
Downloads:
Procedure:
Step 1: Download both the zip package files in a specific folder on your PC. Do not extract them.
Step 2: Now connect your Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 to PC using USB cable, enable USB debugging mode and copy the downloaded files on your phones SD card.
Step 3: Then safely disconnect your Galaxy Mini from PC. Switch it off completely and boot into recovery mode. Galaxy Mini can be booted into recovery mode by simultaneously pressing and holding Home button (middle button) + Power button till you enter recovery mode.
Note: Touch won’t work in recovery mode. So use Volume keys for navigating up and down and use Home button for selection.
The first thing you need to do after entering recovery mode is that take a complete backup of your current ROM that you are using. This backup is called as Nandroid backup and is the backup of your phones entire operating system & is always helpful during the failure while flashing process or during any problem with the ROM, then you can easily restore your saved previous ROM.
Step 4: For taking a nandroid backup of your current ROM, use Volume keys and navigate to the ‘backup & restore’ option on the recovery mode itself and on the next screen select ‘backup’ option using Home button. This will make a complete nandroid backup and will be saved on your phones SD card. Refer screenshots.
Step 5: Now wipe the data and cache partitions from your phones internal memory. For doing so, navigate to the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option using volume keys. Select it using Home button. On the next screen press Yes option to start the wiping process. Similarly navigate to the ‘wipe cache partition’ option and select it to wipe the caches. Note that this step will clear entire data from your phones internal memory including contacts, messages, apps, memos, call logs etc. Thus a complete backup of everything must be done before applying this step (Refer Pre-requisites section).
Step 6: Return to the main menu and select theAdvanced option located on the recovery mode itself. On the next screen select Reboot Recovery option.
Wait until you boot again into recovery.
Let’s move to the actual Android 5.0 Lollipop themed ROM flashing process.
Step 7: Use Volume keys and navigate to the ‘install zip from SD card’ option. Select it using Home button. Then on the next screen select ‘choose zip from SD card’ option. This will show you all the files and folders present on your external SD card. Use Volume keys and navigate to the Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM which you’ve copied earlier. Select it using Home button. On the next screen select ‘Yes’ option to start the actual Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM flashing process. Wait for some time to complete it flashing process.
Step 8: Again wipe the data/cache partitions from the recovery. For doing so select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option and ‘wipe cache partition’ option. This step is essential to solve the boot loop issue.
Step 9: Similarly flash the Google Apps package as you’ve flashed the ROM zip file. Just remember not to wipe data/cache after that.
Step 10: Everything completes here. Just reboot your Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570 by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option from the recovery mode. The first boot takes more time to start than usual. But don’t worry after a couple of boots it’ll be normal.
Note: If you want to restore back your previous Rom, then you can do that by going back to the recovery mode by pressing & holding Home Button (middle button) + Power Button simultaneously and select ‘Backup and Restore’ option and then on next page select ‘Restore’ option. Select the ROM you want to restore.
